Eating Healthy Doesn’t Have To Be Boring

Why is it that every time someone mentions the word ‘healthy’, our mind automatically goes to broccoli or bland chicken.  This doesn’t have to be the case.  Healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring. Healthy food can be delicious when made with the right combinations and the use of good quality ingredients. Through balance and moderation, you can still eat foods that you love while still eating healthy! Once you start thinking of healthy eating as boring, it becomes more difficult to stick to it, which is why we’re sharing a few ways to make healthy dishes fun and delicious!

  1. Add some color to your plate

In order to make your dishes look more enticing, adding color is the way to go.  Top your salads and entrees with chopped fruits or vegetables for added nutrients.  You can also add fruit to your dessert.  This will make your meals look more appetizing, making you more likely want to eat the healthy dish that’s in front of you (rather than grabbing an unhealthy snack from the pantry).

  1. Shake up your meals to avoid boredom

Tired of rotating between grilled chicken and salmon? Food gets boring when rotating between the same healthy staples. However, if you use different spices and vegetables, you can make that same chicken or salmon into something different and appetizing every day.  Add in some curry on one day, cook it with onions and mushrooms another day and maybe even try creating a vegetable stir fry with some chicken and chili to spice it up on the third day. Different food combinations will surely make your meals less boring while still making them healthy.  It’s also a great way to use up what you have in the fridge.

  1. Don’t deprive yourself of the foods you love

A lot of people tend to fall off the bandwagon of healthy eating because they completely cut out foods they love. This does not have to be the case. You can still eat what you love in moderation. This could mean smaller portions or eating your favorite dishes less often – perhaps once a week or twice a month.  By doing this you are more likely to stick with eating healthy.

As long as you choose high-quality ingredients, the right spices, and fresh produce, your meals will always be tasty!  Don’t limit yourself, and get creative.  There are plenty of produce, spices, ingredients, and protein sources out there for you to prepare, cook, and enjoy!  Knowing where to find them is sometimes half the battle.
